If Harry Potter was one of audience's top choices in recent cinematic history, its actress, Emma Watson, will never be forgotten. She stars in Sofia Coppola's latest work, The Bling Ring, which became a big event in the Cannes film festival.
Before the premiere (首映), Watson said: “Harry Potter feels like such a long time ago, but obviously it's still very present, being played in people's living rooms. I'm not trying to run away from it, but it's that I've had such an amazing three or four years to transform ( 转 变 ) into new roles and work with new creative people.”
Coppola's film is based on the true story of a group of Los Angeles teenagers, who stole luxury goods (奢侈品) from the houses of the rich and famous in order to copy their lifestyles. Watson said: “It wasn't so much about the stealing. They wanted to pretend for two hours that they were Paris Hilton and to live that lifestyle for real.”
Among the thieves' targets was Hilton. Between October 2008 and November 2009, they stole more than £3 million worth of items. They also showed off the items on Facebook.
Making the actors/actresses popular might be regarded as the final victory for the film, but according to Coppola, that was far from her purpose. “I changed the names of the characters because I didn't want to make them more famous,” she said, adding that she was “not too concerned with the reactions” of the people on whom the story is based.

B When I was quite young, I sometimes dreamt about a city. It was odd,_because the dream began before I even knew what a city was. But I could see this city, by a big bay, with boats on the water and houses all around. Sometimes I saw silver things flying in the sky. It was a pretty place. Once I asked my sister, Mary, where the city was. She told me that there was no such place. She said that long ago there might have been a city like that, but not now. Then she told me not to talk about the dream to anyone. Mary did not want me to talk about anything that might make people think I was different from them. Where we lived, people were always looking out for strange things. They even thought it was strange that I was left-handed. So I did not talk about my dream to anyone, and as I got older I did not have it so often. And I never told anyone that I could talk to my cousin Rosalind without seeing her. I wasn't sure if talking like that was strange. After some time I thought perhaps I was just like everyone else. Until the day I met Sophie. One day I had done off by myself as I often did. I went down a cart-track from our farm until I came to a high ridge. This ridge was very long, and ran all the way round the land, as far as you could see.

I had often gone along the top of it, but I hadn't been down the other

side. Somehow the land on the other side seemed strange, like

another country. But today I played a game.

The rain had worn away some of the bank on the other side and

I could push myself down the path made by the rain. I did this twice,

rushing down the ridge and landing in the soft sand at the bottom.

The third time I landed, a voice said, “Hello.” 5.The sentence “It was odd, because the dream began before I

even knew what a city was.” suggests that ________.

A. the dream began as soon as I fell asleep

B. my dream was always the same

C. I had not seen a city

D. my dream always started in a city 答案与解析 C 从此句可知,作者还不知城市是什么样的时候

就开始梦到城市了,说明他没有见过城市。

6.I was able to slide down the ridge because ________.

A. heavy rain had made paths down its side

B. the ridge was made of soft sand

C. he had played the game many times before

D. the ridge was very long 答案与解析 A 从末段“... and I could push myself down the

path made by the rain.”可知大雨冲刷出一条小路。

7.The underlined word “odd” means “________”.

A. familiar

B. exciting

C. strange

D. amusing

答案与解析 C 从第三段“... people were always looking out

for strange things. They even thought it was strange that I was left-handed.”可推断 odd 意为 strange。
